Affirming practitioner rights and owner choice while supporting clear, fair regulation.
The National Board of Certification for Animal Acupressure and Massage (NBCAAM) supports the right of its certified practitioners to work and affirms that animal owners have the fundamental right to choose qualified, nationally certified practitioners.
NBCAAM-certified practitioners are members of a distinct profession that offers complementary animal wellness care, operating within a clearly defined scope of practice that does not include diagnosis, prescription, or prognosis of medical conditions. These professionals work collaboratively and respectfully alongside the veterinary community while maintaining their independence as skilled practitioners who work directly with animal owners.
Qualified practitioners have met rigorous national certification standards, including comprehensive education, examination, adherence to a code of ethics, and ongoing continuing education requirements. To further these ends, NBCAAM seeks to promote clear, specific state regulatory language governing practitioner qualifications for animal acupressure and massage, which will allow for fair, consistent and equitable regulatory enforcement.
