Susan Kasmin has a lifetime love and passion for horses. She is a certified equine massage therapist and equine myofascial trigger point practitioner serving Connecticut and its surrounding areas. She is a graduate of Bancroft School of Massage Therapy in Worcester, MA, and also has a certificate in Equine Husbandry from Post University in Waterbury, CT. She is presently attending Branford Hall in Southington, CT, for a license in human massage therapy to be completed in July of 2012. Susan will be attending the Wilson Meagher Sports Therapy Program in the spring of 2012 studying with Jo-Anne Wilson, the late Jack Meagher's partner and associate. She plans on specializing in sports massage and scar tissue repair for both horses and humans. Susan has extensive personal and professional experience with horses. Susan observes how a horse looks at a stance then performs a gait analysis to decide a treatment plan. She uses non-invasive methods of hands on work designed to enhance a horse's overall wellness. Techniques include sliding, pressing, broadening, frictioning, tapping, stretching and compression. These techniques are applied within the musculoskeletal system of the horse to promote flexibility which enhances movement and frees soft tissue restrictions. Susan states that equine massage may also help prevent injury, improve temperament, enhance circulation, promote digestion, improve comfort in senior horses and so much more. She also states that massage has a positive influence on every system of the body. Each session is about an hour long and the results in most cases are obvious and long lasting. | |
